The Technology Centre was busy today with the launch of our newly installed rapid electric vehicle charging points.
The launch coincided with a repeat of the Electric Vehicle event by sustainable transport specialists In Motion, whereby a selection of electric vehicles from a variety of car manufacturers were brought to the Centre for people to test drive. Cars included a Renault Twizy, a Volkswagen eGolf and a Nissan Leaf. Representatives from In Motion and the car manufacturers were on hand to chat to Technology Centre colleagues about the various schemes on offer.
Ian Powell of Aspire Creative was one of the first to show interest – “The high mileage that I do each week had always made me wonder whether an electric vehicle would be a good idea, however I wasn’t sure whether there was a large enough vehicle available to accommodate my growing family. The event today was therefore very helpful and answered a lot of my questions”
The charging points are located at the front of the building and are available for the general public to use, totally free of charge. Christina Unwin, Customers Services Advisor at the Technology Centre has been watching the installation progress closely. “I am very excited to see such a facility available here and can’t wait to see them being used. Customers can park their vehicle in one of the two spaces, plug their car in, and then come inside to use our cafe whilst they wait”
