Flying High at AMP Technology Centre – Drone Innovation Company Iprosurv

An aerial data capture and analysis company founded in 2014, Iprosurv use drone technology to collect data that is green, safe, efficient and cost effective to access.

Business founders Rebecca and Shane Jones first considered the value of drone innovations during the South Yorkshire floods in 2007. Devastatingly, the torrential rain that hit the region led to the loss of life and thousands of people evacuated from their homes and businesses.

Following the floods, professional services firms faced significant challenges accessing the area in order to assess the damage to buildings and infrastructure.  Drone technology was still in its infancy but Shane’s 24-year career in the armed forces gave him an insight into its capabilities and use in hazardous environments. Seven years later the pair applied their understanding of drone technology and its use in hard-to-reach areas to launch their business; Iprosurv.

With 18 years’ experience in the regulated financial services sector, Rebecca understood the processes involved when working with insurance and loss adjustment businesses. Combining this knowledge with the practical application of drones and an innovation-led approach to solve challenges around safer, greener, more accessible data capture, Iprosurv was born.

A business-to-business service, originally marketed at loss adjustment and claims companies, Iposurv uses drone technology to collect eyes-on data in hard to reach environments. By 2017 the dynamic duo had outgrown their home-office and relocated to the Advanced Manufacturing Park, taking space at AMP Technology Centre and hiring their first employee.

With space to grow in a supportive environment, Iprosurv were able to build an impressive training programme, up-skilling operators using drone technology and opening up new markets to explore. The move to AMP Technology Centre gave them access to professional training rooms, commercial storage and an onsite fly-zone environment with complex assets to navigate; supporting training participants to grow in confidence and ability.

The team have Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) operational authorisation, they also have an operational safety case for flying ‘closer and further’. In 2022 they enhanced their service propositions and achieved their Recognised Assessment Entity to deliver CAA approved training to organisations and individuals wishing to integrate drones into their workflows. They are also registered as a UK learning provider and their additional accreditations support blue chip organisations procurement standards.

As drone technology has evolved and businesses are realising the benefits of integrating drones into working practices, Iprosurv has expanded the range of services, assessments, certifications and continuous professional development to operators. From their South Yorkshire base, they have built a network of over 80 contractors across the UK and are accessing new sectors including construction, security and engineering.
