Transforming Care for Individuals with Learning Disability and Complex Needs 15th October

We have great pleasure in announcing the speaker line up for our forthcoming CPD certified educational conference, Transforming Care for Individuals with Learning Disability and Complex Needs to be held on Thursday 15th October at AMP Technology Centre in Rotherham, South Yorkshire.

Confirmed speakers for the day will focus their seminar sessions on specific topics including:

  • The Transforming Care agenda and the importance of least restrictive practice and settings.
  • Working with sexual offenders with intellectual disabilities.
  • Locked wards for learning disabled women and research carried out about self-injury and aggression
  • Complexities of the relationship between learning disability and severe autism.

We will also have a number of small sessions that will explore the benefits of bespoke care in a single occupancy setting and also hear from two parents talking about the complex care system from their perspective and their personal experiences.

All of our speakers have a wealth of experience in their respective fields whether that be academic, clinical or lived experience and come from a range of backgrounds they are;

Professor Leam Craig– FBPsS Consultant Forensic Clinical Psychologist, Hon. Professor of Forensic Psychology, University of Birmingham,UK
Dr Rebecca Fish– Lancaster University
Dr Steve Hinder– Consultant in the Psychiatry of Intellectual Disability, Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Trust

Each speaker will present an interactive seminar session which in some cases may include video clips and audio, and then finishing with a Q&A session to give delegates the opportunity to ask further questions about the topics covered.

There will be networking opportunities for delegates throughout the day during morning and afternoon breaks as well as lunchtime and at the end of the day.

We have had a really positive response from delegates registering to attend the event and it promises to be an interesting and informative day with a fantastic speaker line up providing relevant, thought provoking content and plenty of actions for delegates to take back to their place of work.
